Long Sutton and the surrounding areas.

Long Sutton is an excellent and central base from which to explore Somerset, there are many National Trust properties within easy driving distance. The village boasts some marvellous walks and we have great amenities close by. Devon and Dorset are within easy reach and there is a choice of coastlines to visit during your stay. Within the village itself we have an 18 hole golf course and the surrounding waterways offer plentiful opportunities for fishing. Paddleboarding has become very popular on the river Parrett in Langport. There is a comprehensive list of things to see, do and walks to take in the cottage information pack.

Long Sutton Church
Beautiful countryside

Grade One listed and over 500 years old, Long Sutton church is well worth a visit. The internal paintwork is stunning and the font is incredibly detailed. It stands at one corner of the village green. Combine a visit here with a meal or drink in the award winning hotel opposite. The village has a post office and convenience store also by the green and, at the far edge, an 18 hole golf course.

The cottage is surrounded by winding lanes, woods and public footpaths giving you an amazing range of places to walk and enjoy the local wildlife. Regular sightings include foxes, badgers, buzzards, deer and when the season is right swallows. Barn owls can frequently be seen gliding silently through the night sky.

Hanging Chapel, Langport

Langport is full of hidden gems such as the hanging chapel on The Hill. Driving through town make sure you check the buildings which lean backwards from the road. A lack of foundations give the buildings a jaunty angle. Cocklemoor is a lovely place to stroll with recently improved pathways. Hire a bike or bring a paddleboard to enjoy the slow flow of the the river. There are plenty of cafes to enjoy after your walk.

Long Sutton village green

Long Sutton is a quiet and quaint village filled with listed buildings and cozy cottages. It is an ideal place to take leisurely strolls and enjoy the panoramic views. The vista from the top of Knole hill is the best for several miles. Many of the lanes are used by weekend cyclists as well as those training for events such as the Langport Triathlon.
